McDonalds Classic Road Race and Criteriums

Riders can access entry through the NSW Cycling Federation website and there is No cost to spectators.
Description of Event:
The McDonalds Classic two days of riding offers riders the opportunity to compete for prize money of $20,000 over the weekend. The Wagga Wagga Cycling Club is taking this opportunity to ask the public to come along and witness a great weekend of racing, with the Criteriums on the Sunday being particularly good for spectators. All money raised by the Wagga Cycling Club over the weekend will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Wagga.

Saturday
116km Handicap Road Race – Starting and Finishing at the Wagga Winery on the Oura Road,
approximately 24km from Wagga Wagga CBD. The
Wagga Wagga
Winery offers cellar door sales and a fully licensed restaurant set
amongst 17 acres of established grape vines a stone's throw from the
Murrumbidgee River.

The road race will commence from the Wagga Wagga Winery on the Oura Road on the Saturday. The course provides a challenge for riders travelling out through Wantabadgery, through the rolling hills towards Nangus, across to Eurongilly, over to the township of Junee, through the outskirts of Junee and onto Harefield, and back to sprint across the finish line in front of the Wagga Winery.
Sunday Criteriums – Starting and finishing in Ivan Jack Drive, with best vantage points for viewing the race being in the Victory Memorial Gardens located in the heart of the CBD of Wagga wagga. Spectators will be treated to a morning of criterium cycle racing around the Memorial Gardens Park.
The number of Grades will depend on the numbers of riders entered.
Races will commence in Ivan Jack Drive, race down Best Street, turn left into Tompson Street and left into Peters Street, right into Morrow Street, left into Baylis Street into Fitzmaurice Street, left into Johnston Street, before turning left back into Ivan Jack Drive.
Spectators are encouraged to watch the event from the Victory Memorial Gardens or pick a vantage point along the street. Visitor will be able to take advantage of the cosmopolitan shopping district whilst watching the race and even enjoy a espresso coffee at a cafe beside the course.
